ITINERARY
Once we arrive at our lodge, we settle into our rooms and have lunch. After a short rest, we will take an introductory 1.5-hour hike through the dense rainforest, guided by a local expert on medicinal plants, trees, and animals. The guide will lead us along our trails to observe a wide variety of trees, some of which are hundreds of years old. At the same time, you may see some species of wildlife such as toucans, oropendolas, parrots, monkeys, snakes, butterflies, and more. You will have the opportunity to experience the magic of our Amazon rainforest within the Tambopata National Reserve (278,000 hectares protected by Peruvian law). In the afternoon, we prepare to watch the sunset. Once it gets dark, we search for caimans, capybaras, and sloths found along the riverbanks. At night…
Very early in the morning, starting at 5 am, we visit the parrot clay lick, a spectacular place where parrots come to eat the clay on the river walls after breakfast. At 9 am, we will prepare for a 4-5 hour hike deep in the jungle. We will set up our own tents using a type of tarp for a roof, creating our sleeping area for the night with a wood-burning stove and improvised bamboo beds. Once our camp is set up, at 3 pm, we prepare our rustic fishing rods for fishing in the streams. (creek) In the evening we will light our campfire to roast the fish we caught during the afternoon. Dinner at 6 pm. After dinner, a night walk looking for species that move at night.
The next morning at 6:30 am we pack up our tents and return to the lodge. We get ready and pack our bags to return to the port of Maldonado town.
