ITINERARY
FULL ADVENTURE
This activity offers a different perspective on experiencing the rainforest. We will do four activities throughout the day: a suspension bridge, a zip line before lunch.
After a short break, we will go kayaking on the river and visit the monkey house.
Check-in to the lodge.
Capybaras, Caimans, and more…
In the afternoon, we will go in search of the world’s largest rodents, called capybaras. They are usually found on the riverbanks where the Tambopata National Reserve borders the river, which is why hunting them is prohibited. While exploring the river in search of these adorable animals, we may encounter white and black caimans and other species. But the most captivating aspect of this program is the sunset. We are fortunate to be located at the exact spot where the sun dips below the horizon at the end of the day.
Night Walk
After dinner, we will take a night walk around our lodge to observe insects, spiders, tarantulas, snails, and other creatures.
BRAZIL NUT TRAIL AND FISHING
In the Amazon, there are over 1.2 million Brazil nut trees (Bertholletia excelsa) covering an area of 2.5 million hectares, 20% of which lies within the Tambopata National Reserve.
To reach these giant trees, we’ll hike for 3 to 4 hours along well-maintained trails. The Brazil nut grove is home to diverse flora and fauna, including the agouti, one of the few animals that can crack open the nuts and is an expert at dispersing their seeds. We’ll also have the opportunity to try our hand at sport fishing to discover some of the freshwater fish species.
Exploring Amazonian Agriculture
On this tour, we’ll learn about the different agricultural products that benefit Amazonian cuisine and, above all, the economy of the people who cultivate them: plantains, yucca, sugarcane, annatto, etc.
Sunset
We are fortunate to be located at one of the most beautiful spots in Tambopata, a natural viewpoint where the sun sets behind the trees at the end of the afternoon. Spectacular.
6:00 pm: Return to the city.
Thank you for your visit. We will continue our efforts to conserve trees and learn about the biodiversity of the Tambopata National Reserve.
